Richard Holmes

Richard joined the Gates Foundation in 2020 as an Investment Associate with a generalist focus and was named a Principal in 2023. Since joining, Richard evaluated and structured investments with companies in the biotechnology, agriculture technology and education technology sectors. Richard is passionate about the Foundation’s work within the United States and focuses on K-12 education, postsecondary education, and economic mobility.

Prior to joining the Gates Foundation, Richard worked at Centerview Partners in New York where he was an investment banking analyst. Richard graduated summa cum laude from the University of Miami with a B.S.B.A in finance.

Richard is based in Seattle. Outside of work he enjoys taking amateur landscape and wildlife photos across Washington, Canada and Alaska.
